Job Overview

The intern will gain exposure to a variety of operational functions to become familiar with production processes, safety standards, workflow efficiency, and overall business operations. The internship includes time spent in multiple areas of the company, allowing the intern to observe, learn, and participate in operational activities that support PCI’s core services. Interns will also have opportunities to engage with corporate support teams depending on business needs and individual interests.

 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Learning how to operate production equipment efficiently and safely.
  • Assisting associates by moving materials, supporting workflow needs, and completing assigned tasks in accordance with Standard Work practices.
  • Observing processes and working with leadership and team members to identify opportunities for improvements in work areas.
  • Supporting safety, quality, delivery, and cost‑related initiatives as directed.
  • Completing assigned internship projects that focus on learning outcomes, operational observations, and potential process improvement ideas.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

 

Internship Learning Components 

Throughout the internship, the intern will rotate through selected operational areas. Rotation assignments may vary based on business needs, but will be designed to provide well‑rounded exposure to core production and support processes. The intern will complete structured learning activities and may be assigned specific projects such as documenting what they have learned, identifying problems observed, and proposing potential solutions.

Additional departments outside core operations may be made available for observation depending on the intern’s background, interest, and approval.

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required for interaction with operations and management.
  • Ability to learn quickly, follow instructions, and adapt to a fast‑paced environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in production operations, workflow management, or related fields is preferred.

 

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.; vocational, technical, or college coursework preferred.
  • Ability to work the full duration of the internship program based on assigned schedule

Regularly required to lift heavy boxes and trays of mail up to 40 lbs. Ability to stand for long periods of time, bending at the waist and knees.
