About The Company
Aspect Biosystems is a biotechnology company pioneering the development of Bioprinted Tissue Therapeutics (BTTs) to transform how we treat some of the most elusive diseases. Aspect’s BTTs are designed to replace, repair, or supplement biological function inside the body. Aspect is creating these next-generation cell therapies by applying its full-stack tissue therapeutic platform, which integrates proprietary AI-powered bioprinting technology, computational design tools, therapeutic cells, and advanced biomaterials. Aspect is advancing a pipeline of BTTs across multiple disease areas in the endocrine and metabolic space including diabetes, obesity, rare endocrine disorders, and liver disease. Aspect's pipeline development strategy involves both proprietary programs as well as strategic partnerships, including a collaboration with Novo Nordisk focused on diabetes and obesity.
About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Quality Control Microbiology Co-op to join our multidisciplinary QC team. In this role, you will provide critical support in executing microbial assays, such as bioburden, sterility, Mycoplasma, and endotoxin testing, to ensure the safety and purity of our bioprinted tissue therapeutics. You’ll be joining a company committed to developing regenerative medicines that deliver life-changing, functional cures for patients living with serious diseases.

Responsibilities

  • Performing foundational QC Microbiology assays, including endotoxin, bioburden, and sterility testing, strictly following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Supporting cleanroom integrity by conducting air sampling, particle counts, and surface sampling. You will also assist in Personnel Monitoring to ensure aseptic standards are met.
  • Evaluating in-process samples and maintaining the QC microbiology database, practicing industry-standard Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Working on the aseptic collection of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products.
  • Operating and helping maintain critical laboratory equipment, such as autoclaves, Biosafety Cabinets (BSC), plate readers, and incubators.
  • Managing media and supply inventory to ensure seamless lab operations and participate in housekeeping to uphold biosafety standards.
  • Assisting in troubleshooting and laboratory investigations, identifying ways to optimize procedures or documentation.

Education & Experience

  • Education: You are enrolled in microbiology, biology,  biomedical engineering, biochemistry, or similar programs.
  • Professional Experience: Previous work experience executing research and development in a wet lab setting would be highly beneficial. Experience with designing and executing experiments, conducting technical literature searches, and have a full understanding of the research and development process.
  • Assay Experience:  You have hands-on experience with experimental techniques for performing biological assays (ELISA, colorimetric assays, immunostaining), and data analysis.
  • Detail-Oriented: You have outstanding attention to detail and experimental and process rigour. You take pride in your work and strive for excellence.
  • Intellectually Curious: You have a burning desire to learn more and aren’t afraid to ask questions.

The hiring range for this role is $3,750 - $4,000 CAD, monthly. Our ranges are based on market data. Offered salaries will be based on a combination of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience. For candidates who exceed role requirements, we are open to exploring above-range offers.
