The Costco Digital Services Division is inviting students currently enrolled in an IT or related undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university to participate in a twelve -week paid internship program during  2026. Interns will work within specific areas in Costco’s Information Systems Division. Interns will attend presentations given by various members of Executive Management from IT and other areas of the Company. Interns will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses. Housing is not provided. The program runs mid June to early September and is located in Issaquah, WA. No out of state work allowed. All interns will adhere to the CDS hybrid work model of three days onsite and two days remote.

The Client Hardware interns primary focus will be understanding our locations (Warehouses, Depots, BD’s, Costco Logistics) by working with Client Hardware Administration ticket queue, resolving issues, and replacing hardware.  Additional responsibilities will be assisting the Client Hardware Solutions team with project efforts, assisting in and other tasks necessary for design, integration, maintenance and support of client hardware systems. The Client Hardware intern will participate in the intake process, partner with team members on solutions, and document requirements. 

 

NOTE: While participating in the IT Internship program, an individual will be classified as an hourly temporary employee for the duration of the program. During the program, the individual may be asked to undergo the normal interview process for a level 1 position. If the individual is offered a position, they will be converted to the employment status matching open job they were selected for. If they are not selected for a regular position, the internship position will be complete in a maximum of twelve weeks.

  • Works with Client Hardware Solutions (CHS) leadership to identify solutions that support their business requirements.
  • Assists in new client hardware technology solutions to meet business needs.
  • Tests new client hardware or applications on existing infrastructure.
  • Researches, analyzes and recommends changes required for growth.
  • Learns security management practices, as well as following established security standards.
  • Understands and adheres to CHS methodology and framework.
  • Understands and adheres to Costco’s Mission Statement and Code of Ethics.
  • Helps with project intake and provides detailed status reports of tasks and deliverables.
  • Helps to document processes and project details as well as provide second-level support documentation.
  • Learns about current retail industry and technology directions and all areas of Costco business.

 

Required:

  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess good organizational, time, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, and stay well organized.
  • Currently maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Must be students currently enrolled in an IT undergraduate or graduate program at a community college, college, or university or a recent graduate. 
  • Works within a team environment.
  • Understanding the following areas:
    • PC/Servers/clients; hardware, Windows operating systems.
    • Networking; wireless/wired network infrastructure, Radio Frequency devices.
    • General knowledge of networking such as TCP/IP routing on WANs and LANs, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and Wifi.

 

Recommended: 

  • Experience with:
    • Costco’s core business environment and familiarity with diverse use cases.
    • MDM (Mobile Device Management) tools such as Airwatch, Intune, and Wavelink.
    • Enterprise administration experience managing Windows, iOS, Android, and ChromeOS.
    • Scripting experience using: PowerShell, Batch files, CMD, Python, AutoIt.
    • Documenting technical proposals and persuasive writing.
    • Point-of-Sale; registers, scanners, payment devices.
    • Printing Platforms; laser, pallet tag, wired, wireless.
  • Costco warehouse, ecommerce or retail experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.
