Project Title:

Digital Enablement and Equipment Performance Optimisation in Fabrication Support Systems

Project Description:

This internship project focuses on understanding how fabrication support systems such as vacuum pumps, point‑of‑use scrubbers, and thermal management equipment contribute to stable and reliable semiconductor manufacturing operations. The project emphasises digital enablement through data visualisation, system monitoring, and structured engineering analysis to enhance equipment performance visibility and decision‑making. The intern will work alongside engineers to study system behaviour, review operational data, and translate findings into actionable insights through dashboards and documentation.

Objective of the Project:

The objective is to develop the intern’s foundational understanding of fabrication support systems while building competencies in engineering analysis, digital tools, and structured problem‑solving methodologies within a manufacturing environment.

Project Scope:

  • Study the operating principles and performance indicators of fabrication support equipment
  • Analyse historical system data to identify trends, recurring issues, and performance gaps
  • Develop data visualisation dashboards to improve equipment performance transparency
  • Evaluate digital monitoring and sensor data for early fault identification
  • Contribute to structured problem analysis using recognised engineering methodologies
  • Define requirements for digital or automation readiness related to equipment movement and monitoring

Learning Opportunities:

  • Semiconductor fabrication support systems and infrastructure
  • Engineering data analysis and visualisation tools
  • Digitalisation concepts within manufacturing environments
  • Structured problem‑solving and risk assessment methodologies
  • Engineering documentation and project planning

Deliverables:

  • Completed data dashboards and visual reports
  • Engineering analysis summary with key findings and recommendations
  • Documented project requirements, scope, and timelines
  • Final presentation of learning outcomes and project impact

Impact of Project:

The project enhances equipment performance visibility, supports data‑driven decision making, and strengthens digital readiness within fabrication support operations while building early‑career engineering capabilities.

Skillsets Required:

  • Basic understanding of engineering principles
  • Data analysis and logical problem‑solving skills
  • Interest in digital tools and manufacturing systems
  • Clear communication and documentation skills

Course of Interest
Currently pursuing undergraduate studies in EEE/Mechanical Engineering/Chemical Engineering or any other relevant disciplines.

Duration Period:

Minimum 5 months (Semester-long full-time internship from July to November 2026)
