About the Role

JOB SUMMARY: 


The Bob Turner intern, which will be a junior or senior in high school, will have the opportunity to work within various departments at the City of Douglasville. The internship program can be tailored to the intern's preferences. Once selected, interns will engage in a hands-on 7-week experience to explore potential career paths while collaborating closely with department supervisors and key management personnel. 


Responsibilities: 

  • Assisting with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and organizing documents.
  • Conducting research and analysis on various municipal projects, policies, or initiatives.
  • Helping to organize and promote community events, workshops, or outreach programs.
  • Assisting in the preparation of materials, agendas, and presentations for departmental meetings or public hearings.
  • Collecting data, compiling reports, and creating visualizations to support decision-making processes.
  • Reviewing existing policies and regulations, and providing feedback or recommendations for improvement.
  • Assisting with the management of social media accounts, including content creation, scheduling posts, and responding to inquiries.

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Applicants must be at least in their junior or senior year of a high school within Douglas County, including private or home schools.
  •  Applicants must commit to working a flexible schedule of 15-20 hours per week for 7 consecutive weeks from June - August.
  • Applicants must show an interest in local government.
