About the Role

Job Title: Marketing & Digital Storytelling Intern (Part-Time: Summer) 

Duration: Mid-May through Mid-August 

Job Description: Hamilton East Public Library (HEPL) is seeking a creative and motivated Summer Marketing & Digital Storytelling Intern to join our Marketing and Communications team. This in-person role is ideal for a visual storyteller with strong photography and videography skills who is excited to create engaging content for a variety of platforms. The intern will work both within the library and at outreach events throughout the community. Some evening and weekend availability is required. 

Details: 

  • Hourly Rate: $14.78 per hour
  • Hours: 20 hours per week
  • Schedule: Varied based on library programs & outreach events. Some evening and weekend work will be required.

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with creating content for social media, blogs, websites, email campaigns, and other digital channels
  • Research and develop content ideas that align with HEPL’s brand messaging and audience interests, in collaboration with the marketing team
  • Capture and edit visual content, including photography, video, reels, and graphics, using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or CapCut
  • Collaborate with the team to review content performance metrics and recommend improvements
  • Support the planning and execution of marketing and communications campaigns
  • Attend scheduled outreach events to represent the library, capture content, and engage with community members at outreach booths 

Requirements:  

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design, or a related field
  • Strong photography and videography skills
  • Experience with content creation and video editing tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite,CapCut, Edits, etc.)
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, trends, and best practices
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Creative mindset with strong attention to detail
  • Graphic design and writing skills are a plus
