What You'll Do Here:

The Summer Student provides support to the project team through hands‑on involvement in traffic control, geometric design and traffic control plans, construction and administrative activities. This role offers the opportunity to gain practical experience in the application of transportation engineering, construction industry and general departmental operations.

 

  • Support day‑to‑day engineering and project related activities related to the Traffic Team.
  • Assist with geometric design and traffic accommodation plans‑based and process‑driven projects, including documentation, analysis, and coordination tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with construction crews and other personnel to coordinate traffic control activities.                                                                                             
  • Maintain accurate documentation of daily activities and incidents related to traffic control.

 

 

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program in Transportation Engineering, Construction Management or Technical studies, or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles (an asset for financial tasks).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Intermediate knowledge in AutoCAD.
