Student Worker – Legacy Prospect Discovery Intern (26 - 27)

Purpose/Objective of the Role:
As we launch a campus-wide fundraising campaign, we are seeking a detail-oriented intern to conduct and validate prospect rating qualifications for current and prospective OWU donors. This position will also provide targeted prospect analysis using online, subscription platforms, and fundraiser insights that will help inform our campaign planning efforts and departmental goals.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
This is a new position for our team. They will work in partnership with our Analyst to conduct rating reviews and comparisons, complete prospect discovery and validation, and update donor profiles using data provided by third party partners and university fundraisers. This work supports the needs of the Major Gifts, Annual Giving, and Alumni Engagement teams within University Advancements, as well as the fundraising needs of the New York Arts Program, Ross Art Museum, OWU Athletics, Lifelong Learning Institute, and other programs across campus as the need arises.
Qualifications:
You must be a Legacy student to apply. We seek an intern who is dependable and a self-starter with strong organizational and communication skills, a curiosity for analyzing and exploring data, and an ability to maintain confidentiality; database skills are a plus, but not a requirement. Students should have a familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word, and Google Docs and Sheets. They will receive on the job training in Raiser's Edge (Advancement’s CRM).
Potential Future Career Benefit:
This internship is applicable to many career fields, but may be of interest to someone in qualification analysis or data-related fields, and NGO management. They will develop skills in critical thinking, database records, organization and processes, and working in an office environment. They will also gain exposure to the fields of fundraising and philanthropy and learn how to use and search public records, and analyze wealth indicators.
NOTE: Employment sponsorship is not available for this position. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
