About The Company
HyperHeat is building a cutting-edge, all-electric heating solution designed to reach temperatures of up to 2,000°C. Using renewable electricity HyperHeat is providing an efficient alternative to fossil fuel combustion. With an efficiency rate of up to 98%, HyperHeat is ideal for retrofitting industrial processes, enabling significant CO2 reductions across industries like steel, cement, and chemicals. The scalable technology offers a cost-efficient approach to decarbonizing thermal processes, with a potential to reduce global CO2 emissions by over 4.5 gigatons annually.
About the Role

Hi there, and welcome 👋

HyperHeat is building electric high-temperature heating systems to replace fossil burners in the most demanding industrial processes, transforming an industry responsible for roughly 20% of global CO₂ emissions. We are at a point where it is about making hard technology work in real plants, under real economic constraints.

We are seeking a passionate advocate for climate action to join our diverse team in building and testing our electric heater, designed to fully replace fossil fuel flames. As a working student or intern focused on simulation tasks, you will develop simulation models, run parametric simulations, and post-process and report the results. You'll use the built-in FEM and CFD modules in Ansys Mechanical and Fluent/CFX. You can work from our headquarters in Offenburg or remotely. A hybrid option is also possible.

Responsibilities

  • Understand concepts developed by the engineering team and create simplified thermal and mechanical models in a simulation environment.
  • Support concept development with curiosity, creativity, and experience.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to define and discuss boundary and initial conditions for the simulation models.
  • Develop simulation models using appropriate physics and simplifications that reflect real-world scenarios.
  • Critically evaluate simulation results and present them in a clear, digestible format for the team.
  • Explore new approaches, research existing knowledge, and engage in team discussions to improve processes.
  • Iterate and refine simulation models based on feedback from the engineering team until they meet the specified requirements.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Available to work as a working student or intern, either full-time or part-time.
  • Prior experience with CFD and/or FEM simulation models, preferably in Ansys Mechanical/Fluent.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple small projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in thermal model development is a plus.

What's in it for you?

Who we are:

HyperHeat electrifies industrial heat. We build high temperature electric heating systems that enable steel, cement, chemicals, glass, ceramics, and other energy intensive industries to replace fossil burners with a solution that is competitive, scalable, and reliable in real operations.

Industrial process heat is one of the largest remaining sources of global CO₂ emissions. Solving it requires more than good intentions. It requires technology that performs at high temperatures, integrates into existing plants, and wins on economics.

Our products cover a temperature range up to 2000°C and are designed for continuous industrial use. We work with industrial partners on deployments, validate performance under real constraints, and translate that learning into scalable products.

We are building HyperHeat to become the number one supplier of high temperature industrial heating solutions by 2030, deploying more than one gigawatt per year, powered by a proud, talented team.

If you want your work to sit where deep tech meets real world deployment and where analysis directly shapes decisions, you will feel at home here.

Hiring Process

Our hiring process is designed to be fast, structured, and close to real work.

  • Initial 1:1 screening call with a hiring manager.
  • Completion of a relevant take-home task to simulate actual work.
  • Homework Call.

We are building a team with diverse perspectives and backgrounds and we welcome applications from underrepresented groups. If you prefer part-time work or a job share setup, let us know, and we will explore what is possible for this role.

Note: We currently do not offer visa sponsorships or relocation support. You must already have the legal right to work in the EU in order to apply.
