At Flywire, "Platform" is the mission-critical heart of our business. Our Payments Platform is a global network that handles high-value transactions across 240 countries. From the core logic moving funds to the payment experiences that our clients rely on, you’ll be working on the tech that makes global payments feel local.

We are looking for Fly-terns (4º year students) in Valencia to join us this summer. You won't just be "shadowing"—you'll be building software that impacts millions of users and processes billions of dollars.

The Role: Project-Driven & Supported

As a Fly-tern, you will be embedded within a Platform delivery team. While you'll participate in team rituals, your primary focus will be a specific, high-impact project designed for your 6-week journey.

To ensure you grow and succeed, you will have a dedicated support system:

• A Mentor: A senior engineer for day-to-day technical guidance, pair programming, and code reviews.

• A Manager: To support your professional growth, provide feedback, and help you navigate the Flywire culture.

What You’ll Work On

The Platform is broad, and your project will dive deep into the technical foundations of fintech. Possible domains include:

• Payer Services & Experiences: Building the high-performance, accessible, and intuitive user interfaces (React) and the JavaScript SDKs that our clients use to trigger payments.

• Core Money Movement: Developing the high-precision backend logic (Ruby/Java) that tracks funds, handles currency exchange, and manages the global ledger.

• Banking & Network Integrations: Optimizing the APIs and "pipes" that connect Flywire to financial institutions worldwide.

AI-Augmented Engineering

We believe in using the best tools to build the best software. As an intern, you will learn to leverage cutting-edge AI tools like Claude Code and CodexCursor to accelerate your development, automate repetitive tasks, and focus on solving complex architectural problems.

Here’s What We’re Looking For

• Current student in the 4th year of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, or Data Science. We highly value candidates from Double Degrees in Mathematics and Informatics Engineering, as well as specialized degrees in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or Informatics Engineering.

• Tech Foundations: Familiarity with React (for frontend-focused projects) or Ruby/Java (for backend-focused projects). You should have a solid grasp of data structures and SQL.

• The "Platform" Mindset: You are curious about how large-scale systems work, you value robust clean code and testing (TDD), and you enjoy building tools that are used by other developers and millions of payers.

• Communication: Fluency in Spanish and a strong working command of English to collaborate with our global teams.

• Backend: Ruby, on Rails and Java (Spring Boot)

• Data/Messaging: PostgreSQL, MySQL, RabbitMQ

• AI & Tools: Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, GitLab CI, AWS
