About the Role
About the Team: 
The B2C Growth team drives SCMP’s quality traffic and subscription growth. We strategically amplify SCMP’s content across organic and paid channels in key markets, prioritizing an app-first approach. As internal influencers and expert analysts, we bridge audience growth with editorial excellence through data-driven strategies, focusing on audience-first user needs. Our dynamic partnership with Editorial colleagues creates compelling stories that resonate with diverse audiences, expanding SCMP’s market presence. Collaborating with Data and Product & Technology, we use performance data and reader feedback to transform insights into tailored content, fostering loyal readership and paid subscriptions.  Operating in a high-energy, fast-paced environment, the Audience team ensures SCMP’s best content reaches the right audience, at the perfect moment, via the most impactful channels, solidifying our global media leadership.  
 

Purpose of the Position:

  • This is a reader-focused role contributing to the continuous communication and improvement of SCMP’s relationship with its readers.
  • The intern will support the subscription team in understanding and analysing engagement data, helping to identify opportunities to optimise subscriber engagement and drive the growth of digital subscriptions.

In this role, you will: 
  • Insights & Independent Execution: Perform analysis on subscription and engagement data to provide actionable insights, and proactively drive the implementation of proposed plans and optimisations.
  • Campaign Support: Assist the team in building and setting up email and app marketing campaigns to grow, develop, and retain SCMP reader loyalty.
  • Data & Reporting: Help generate reports and extract campaign data to support the team's iterative approach to campaign learning. Assist in subscription performance and user engagement analysis.
  • Paywall Strategy Assistance: Support the team in analysing readers' visiting habits and content consumption, and help execute A/B tests for targeted paywall strategies.
  • AI & Automation Exploration: Help research, test, and document AI tools and workflow automation (e.g.: n8n) to facilitate the team's day-to-day operations and improve efficiency.
  • Reader Feedback: Monitor and consolidate feedback from readers to help the team understand how to increase the adoption of SCMP’s products (mainly the digital subscription service, SCMP app, and newsletters).
  • Team Collaboration: Work alongside colleagues in Marketing, Product, Editorial and Data to document learnings for product improvement.

Skills and Experience that will lead to success:
  • Currently pursuing a University degree (Year 3) in Marketing, Business Administration, Data, or relevant disciplines.
  • This role will be of natural interest to a candidate who is curious, eager to learn, and works in an agile and dynamic way.
  • Enjoy working to bridge the world of Data and Digital Marketing.
  • Independent with a growth mindset. Comfortable working in an agile and transparent culture.
  • A digital native with an interest in handling CRM data. Any exposure to email marketing cloud platforms or app engagement marketing is a strong advantage.
  • Experience working in startups, pioneer projects, or data-driven university projects would be an asset.
  • Well-organised, detail-oriented, and able to help the team meet deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to summarise complex ideas simply.
  • Possess good documentation skills to help the team maintain clear, organised records of campaign setups, automation workflows, and A/B test results.
  • Well-versed in MS Office, especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English and Chinese.
 

Work location will be at Causeway Bay office.
