About the Role


Job Description:

The Engineering Intern will work closely with manufacturing process engineers to automate existing processes in our production and development lines at our Pomona site. The work will be focused on the development and implementation of 2-D vision systems with customized inspection software for in-line quality control, including hands-on assisted machine learning for image recognition.  This position is part-time and on-site.

Job Requirements:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyzing and manipulating images to teach machine learning models.
  • Assist with the design and testing of 2-D vision system inspection software.
  • Opportunity to assist with the design, fabrication and testing of customized fixturing for vision system optics and lighting.
  • Help analyze automated inspection results and refine acceptance criteria and inspection programs.
  • Work with 3rd party non-contact metrology vendors and perform proof-of-concept testing.
  • Opportunity to design experiments, analyze test data and write test protocols and reports.
  • Follows quality and safety protocols and maintains a clean working environment. 
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by Manager.

        

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrolled as an Engineering student at an accredited university.

  • Must possess good communication skills and the ability to describe technical issues clearly.
  • Able to follow instructions and guidelines set forth by the engineering team and manager.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Driven and motivated individual with demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Unquestionably high ethical standards and attention to regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Organized thinker that can prioritize tasks and exercise judgment.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Target Market Salary Range:

Actual compensation packages take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location; skill sets; relevant education and certifications; depth of experience; performance; and other business and organizational needs.
