Job Description
The Lean Manufacturing Intern will support the Lean team by actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivity. This role offers hands-on experience in real manufacturing operations through activities such as time studies, Kaizen events, Gemba walks, and process analysis. The intern will contribute to reducing cycle time and lead time across different operational areas using Lean tools and methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
As a Lean Manufacturing Intern, you will be responsible for supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the operation through the following activities:
- Support the Lean Manufacturing team in daily activities and continuous improvement projects
- Conduct time studies and process observations to support cycle time and lead time reduction initiatives
- Participate in and support Kaizen events, including preparation, data collection, execution, and follow-up
- Perform Gemba walks to identify waste, improvement opportunities, and process gaps
- Assist in the analysis and tracking of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Daily Management System (DMS) metrics
- Support the identification and implementation of process improvements focused on safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency
- Participate in material flow improvement projects within warehouse and production line areas
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Moonshine area, responsible for manufacturing carts and structures
- Help develop and reinforce Lean awareness and capabilities within the Moonshine team
- Document standard work, improvement actions, and best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Quality, Logistics, and Engineering
- Prepare basic reports and presentations to communicate findings, progress, and results
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in:
- Industrial Engineering
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Or a related engineering field
- Must be an active student (internship eligible)
Technical Skills (Preferred)
- Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts (5S, Kaizen, waste identification, standard work)
- Excel / Power BI skills for data analysis
- 2D/3D CAD skills is a plus
- Interest in manufacturing processes and continuous improvement
- Basic English proficiency is a plus
