Give Kids The World Village is an 89-acre, whimsical nonprofit resort in Central Florida that provides critically ill children and their families with a magical week-long wish vacation at no cost. Amidst snoring trees, enchanting castles and the world’s largest game of Candy Land, Give Kids The World creates life-changing moments that lift spirits, renew hope and inspire belief in the impossible.
The Volunteer Services Intern will support the Volunteer Services team in enhancing the volunteer experience at Give Kids The World Village. This internship provides hands-on exposure to nonprofit operations, volunteer engagement, and service program management within a dynamic hospitality-focused environment.
The intern will work closely with the Volunteer Services team to observe volunteer operations, assist with department projects, and help evaluate opportunities to improve volunteer onboarding, training, and engagement.
Commitment:
Interns will be expected on property 3 to 4 days per week totaling roughly 24 to 28 hours per week. Your schedule will be dependent on department needs and will be discussed with you at the time of onboarding. Internship Program will run from May 18, 2026 to August 14, 2026.
Responsibilities:
During the internship, the intern will complete a major project focused on improving aspects of the volunteer experience. Potential project areas may include evaluating volunteer onboarding, analyzing the volunteer journey from application through long-term engagement, improving how volunteer groups are prepared for their experience, or identifying opportunities to enhance volunteer training resources.
Project assignments will be determined based on departmental priorities and the intern’s interests and skills.
The intern will gather feedback, observe volunteer interactions, and collaborate with staff to identify opportunities that strengthen the volunteer program and support a positive experience for those who give their time to the Village.
Support daily Volunteer Services operations as needed
Assist with volunteer check-in, engagement, and general office support
Observe volunteer activities and program processes to better understand the volunteer experience
Conduct informal feedback conversations with volunteers and staff
Assist with organizing or improving volunteer resources and training materials
Document processes and identify opportunities for improvement
Contribute to a project aimed at enhancing volunteer engagement or program effectiveness
Present project findings and recommendations to department leadership at the conclusion of the internship
Physical Demands Beyond Normal Office Environment:
Must be able to sit in office for extensive periods
Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 20 pounds
Work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and/or holidays
QualificationsQualifications and Specific Skills:
Interest in nonprofit work, hospitality, volunteer management, event management, or organizational leadership
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Organized, reliable, and able to work independently
Comfortable interacting with volunteers, staff, and guests
Interest in research, evaluation, or program development
Familiarity with Microsoft Office or similar productivity tools
Education / Experience Required:
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university, pursuing a degree, and taking at least one class at the time of application in Hospitality, Non-Profit Management, or related field.
