About the Role

Job Description

Packaging Development & Technology  Intern 

Start date: August/September 2026 

Duration: 6 months  

Platform/Project: Multiple Teams (please see below).   

Location: Nijmegen  

 

Basic Requirements for all:  

You should have strong communication skills and fluency in English, both written and verbal (Dutch is not a requirement but other languages are a plus)  

  • EU - Students: Need to be enrolled at a Dutch university for at least 50% of the duration of the internship.  

  • Non - EU Students: Need to be enrolled at a Dutch University for the whole duration of the internship. 

NOTE: EU working rights are required (Either you have EU Citizenship, you are studying in the Netherlands or have relevant student work visa)

Assignments and key activities:  

  • Participate in new packaging design & materials development,  

  • Supporting sustainable packaging projects (Rigid Plastic Packaging, Flexible Plastic Packaging, Fiber-based Packaging, Decarbonization) 

Examples:   

  • Scouting of new technologies: identify materials and converting solutions (Technical research, Meetings with suppliers, Creativity sessions, Consumers Insights analysis...) 

  • Feasibility study:verification of the technical feasibility (Tests in the lab, Trials on the production lines...). Estimation of the material costs and investments. Benchmarking versus standard. Life Cycle Analysis. Compliance with regulations, recycling process.  

  • Review relevant literature and external information 

  • Run small packaging projects independently 

 

Specific Team Requirements:  

  • 4th year Bachelor or Master student with classes on packaging design/technology/polymers/fiber/sustainability/LCA: 

  • Packaging Engineering/Technology 

  • Chemistry Engineering 

  • Packaging Sustainability 

  • Food Technology 

  • Knowledge in packaging materials, packaging process, packaging legislations, packaging end of life process, and packaging lab tests   

  • Knowledge in sustainability 

  • Internship experience in packaging development/design or food/cosmetic/pharmaceutical company/packaging supplier is a plus  

  • You are an analytical person, with good communication skills who can take initiative and ownership and can work independently. Have good time management and problem-solving skills and is able to show adaptability.

Screening interview – An initial interview conducted via Microsoft Teams. 

Hiring Manager interview
