Objectives of the Position

  • Assist Chemist in formulation development and formulant exchange activities.
  • Ensure compliance according to the environmental, health and safety standards, all the site safety regulation, process and working guidance to protect personal safety and colleagues.

 

Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparation of formulation trials, including raw material weighing, pre‑mixing, and sample setup according to established SOPs
  • Support operation readiness of laboratory equipment (e.g. mixers, bead mill accessories, climate chambers), including setup, basic checks, and post‑trial cleaning
  • Assist with stability studies, including sample labeling, storage, pull‑out, and basic observation recording
  • Perform routine laboratory tasks such as glassware preparation, inventory tracking, and consumables management
  • Record experimental data accurately in laboratory templates and systems under supervision, ensuring data integrity and traceability
  • Support sample packing and documentation for internal transfers or cross‑site shipment
  • Follow all BASF safety, quality, and housekeeping requirements at all times
  • Provide general laboratory support to ensure smooth day‑to‑day formulation trial execution
  • Other related assigned activities by supervisor

 

Scope and Boundaries

  • The intern supports execution and documentation only; all experimental design, technical decision‑making, and result interpretation remain with the formulation chemist
  • Work is performed under close supervision and within approved laboratory procedures

 

Primary EH&S responsibility

  • Practice laboratory safety procedures to comply with EHS and site safety regulations and procedures to ensure personal and the colleagues’ safety as well as to protect the environment.
  • Ensure safe storage of chemicals including compliance to type and quantities as per stated in license.
  • Participate in incident investigation, if appropriate

 

Learning Opportunities

  • Exposure to industrial formulation development
  • Understanding of lab‑to‑plant linkage, stability testing, and regulatory‑driven formulation workflows
  • Hands‑on experience in a QA‑ and safety‑governed industrial laboratory environment

 

Job Requirements 

  • Minimum diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
  • Basic understanding of laboratory practices and chemical safety
  • Good attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures
  • Willingness to perform hands‑on laboratory and operational tasks
  • Organized, responsible, and able to manage routine activities reliably
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for data recording
