We have an exciting opportunity for a 12-month Industrial Placement student to join The Cadillac Formula 1® Team at our state-of-the-art facility in Silverstone. Working within the Race Strategy & Tyre Performance group, you will support the development of race strategy and tyre performance tools, processes, and analysis methods, while contributing to race preparation, event execution, and post-event reporting.

This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in one of the most performance-critical areas of Formula 1®, supporting data-driven decision making and helping shape the systems and processes that underpin race weekend performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support race strategy and tyre performance engineers with their race weekend operations and simulation activities
  • Support post-session and post-event reporting on car and team performance
  • Assist in the development and improvement of race strategy and tyre performance tools, systems, and supporting infrastructure
  • Contribute to competitor analysis and tyre performance analysis to support strategic decision making
  • Assist in the development and refinement of race strategy and tyre performance operational processes and methodologies
  • Work closely with the wider Performance and Race Engineering groups to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable analysis
  • Produce clear reports and visualisations to communicate insights, trends, and performance findings
  • Develop and maintain department administration and reporting procedures

What do you need to bring to the team?

  • Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline (ideally on a placement year as part of your course)
  • Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills, with a genuine interest in motorsport performance and race strategy
  • Excellent numerical ability and confidence working with data in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively
  • Proactive mindset, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a high-performance team environment
  • Experience with data analysis tools, coding, or scripting (e.g. Python, MATLAB, or similar) would be advantageous
  • Experience working with large datasets, data visualisation, or simulation tools would be beneficial
  • A passion for Formula 1® and an understanding of the strategic elements of race weekend operations is highly desirable
