About the Role

Great Parks is looking for a creative, collaborative and detail-oriented Communications Intern to support our award-winning Marketing & Brand Strategy (MBS) division. As a member of this high-performing and agile team, you will work closely on various projects to elevate Great Parks’ visibility through creative, clear, concise and technical written content. This internship offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment where you will contribute to developing marketing materials, digital campaigns and promotional assets that support our agency’s goals. In this role, you will assist in creating compelling copy for print and digital media, including flyers, banners, signage, web, email, blog and social media.

The successful candidate will perform the following responsibilities:

  • Assist in creating compelling written content for print and digital media, including flyers, banners, signage, web, email blog and social media content.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Manager and marketing team members to brainstorm and develop creative concepts and distill technical information in alignment with Great Parks’ brand and project goals.
  • Support the Marketing Department with tasks such as copywriting, technical writing, email marketing and campaign development.
  • Contribute to developing and maintaining writing standards and brand guidelines to ensure consistency across all channels.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide input on communication strategies, project timelines and deliverables.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining department standards.
  • Positively represent Great Parks.
  • Assist with special events and other tasks as assigned by the Chief of Marketing & Brand Strategy.
  • Accountable to uphold, demonstrate and promote positive and respectful interdependent working relationships across the division and organization.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, openness to change and a willingness to collaborate as needed to advance the mission of Great Parks.
  • Perform job duties in accordance with Great Parks' policies, procedures and performance expectations.
  • Work assigned schedule, exhibiting regular and punctual attendance.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in communications, journalism, English, marketing, advertising or related field with experience in proofreading and writing in AP style. 
  • Currently in good academic standing with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
  • Strong creative portfolio supporting ability to think conceptually, creatively, critically, and strategically while effectively communicating those ideas and producing copy for various audiences and content types (i.e., reports, marketing materials, blog). Exceptional writing and research skills, organization, collaboration with a team and working independently. Familiarity with project management software is also recommended.

License of Certification Requirements:

  • State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License that meets Great Parks’ current carrier guidelines.
