Shift: Monday - Friday 4:00pm - 10:00pm (can be flexible depending on school schedule) 


Job Purpose:

Under the direction of the Service Manager, the Youth Apprentice will be assigned to various duties in the Service Department that interacts, participates and assists the effective operation of the shop. This position is part of the Skills for the Future Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship Program

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete the checklist of competencies associated with the Diesel Technician Pathway checklist.
  • Comply with all program requirements and company policies, demonstrating reliability and accountability.

  • Treat customers in a diplomatic and courteous manner, ensuring a positive interaction and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist other technicians on jobs to gain hands-on experience and contribute to the team's success.

  • Show a desire to learn the business and grow within the organization, actively seeking knowledge and skill development.
  • Participate in training and educational opportunities provided by the company.

Exhibit Pioneering Spirit:

  • Assist in various tasks to support and increase technician proficiency and efficiency, demonstrating a proactive attitude.

  • Support the overall efficiency of the service department by assisting with various tasks and learning proper maintenance and repair techniques.
  • Contribute to a clean, safe, and organized work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly maintained.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 16 years of age
  • Candidates selected to the Youth Apprentice Program must participate in the State of Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Youth Apprenticeship Program (DWD-YAP).

Physical and mental demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to stand and walk; lift and carry up to 10 pounds; simple grasp, use vision and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to reach away from body or shoulder height, climb or balance, lift or carry up to 50lbs, use both simple and firm grasp, fin manipulation, foot controls and drive.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, bend, squat, crawl or lay on back, push and pull.
  • The employee may infrequently kneel and lift or carry up to 75lbs.

  • Continuous exposure to wet humid conditions (non-weather)
  • Frequent exposure to working near moving mechanical equipment, fumes or airborne particles, vibration and loud noise.
  • Occasional exposure to working in high, precarious places, outdoor weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
  • Infrequent exposure to chemicals that require PPE and/or ventilation.
