Work hours: PRN (As Needed) Rotating shifts, day/evening, weekends and holidays



Education

·       High School Diploma or Equivalent Required

License and Certification

·       Other valid intern registration card from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy Upon Hire Required

Experience

  • 1 year of professional inpatient acute care experience strongly preferred

 

What You Will Do

·       Complete projects as assigned by Director of Pharmacy.

·       Projects are completed in a timely manner. Communication of project aspects are clear and concise.

·       Perform regularly assigned quality assurance functions.

·       Daily refrigeration checks are completed.

·       Monthly expiration date checks are completed.

·       Carousel Inventory is completed. (Counts are corrected as discovered).

·       Narcotic Inventory is completed.

·       Prepack record keeping is accurate and complete.

·       Prepare medications for dispensing.

·       Medications are pulled promptly and accurately from carousel or other storage area.

·       If trained in SPL, intern will compound IV medications, TPN solutions, etc. following aseptic technique and policies and procedures.

·       If trained in satellites, accurately and promptly refill each tackle box.

·       If trained in narcotics area, prepare narcotic delivery for pharmacist review.

·       Complete all paperwork without errors.

·       Assists in meeting legal requirements of the pharmacy and hospital.

·       Completes all paperwork/documentation as required by laws, rules and regulations.

·       Performs pharmacy tasks in compliance with laws, rules and regulations.

·       Performs pyxis stock maintenance functions.

·       Prepares medications for delivery to pyxis machines in a prompt and accurate manner.

·       Delivers medications promptly to ensure access to medications by nurses, respiratory therapists, other appropriate personnel.

·       When adding medications to pyxis machines, considers look-alike sound alike medications and appropriately locates medications to prevent risk of error. Considers size of pockets when placing medications to prevent damage to medications or pyxis hardware.

·       Restocks returned medications to carousel.

·       Assists in inventory maintenance and control.

·       Medications are accurately stocked/restocked in a timely manner.

·       When an unusual order is known, purchasing personnel are notified to ensure proper stock levels.
