Our US-based design teams in Boston (formerly Essential Design) has shaped design culture for decades through solutions that blend technology, lifestyle, and design. We’re seeking a paid, in-person intern to join our team - candidates with strong problem-solving skills who can contribute at every stage of the design process.

Job Description

What you’ll do:

Work on real projects alongside designers, engineers, and strategists across disciplines to develop impactful solutions. Your responsibilities include:

- Researching design trends and contributing to client presentations
- Using traditional design tools(sketching/CAD/Keyshot, etc.) to explore ideas and refine concepts
- Hands-on mockups, model making and prototyping.
- Gaining experience throughout the full design process
- Contributing to internal projects to develop technical skills and help bring innovative ideas to life

Qualifications

What We're Looking For:

- U.S. Citizens currently studying or recently graduated in Industrial Design or adjacent field.
- Strong problem-solving skills and passion for creative exploration.
- Portfolio demonstrating storytelling, process documentation, wide-ranging concept exploration, creative solutions, and aesthetic sense.
- Great communication and visualization skills.
- 2D design skills: Analog and digital sketching, and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
- 3D modeling and rendering experience (SolidWorks and KeyShot preferred).
- Prototyping proficiency with ability to integrate feedback.
- Interest in Generative AI application is a plus (Midjourney / Vizcom / Copilot).

- Ideation and concept development.
- Model-making proficiency.
- Distinct point of view!

Additional Information

Start Date: May 2026
Duration: 3-4 months
Salary: $28-$35/hr
Location: Boston, MA office (Seaport); Fully in-person, 5 days/week in Boston
Eligibility: U.S. citizens currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an Industrial Design program.
