About the Role

LHV Bank Limited is a UK-licensed bank operating across three core business segments: Retail Banking, SME Lending, and Banking Services (BaaS). The bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of LHV Group, a listed financial services provider headquartered in Estonia. LHV Bank operates under a full UK banking licence granted in May 2023.

The Bank supports over 200 fintech clients with embedded financial infrastructure, provides retail savings products via digital channels, and offers SME credit solutions across the UK. In line with its regulatory responsibilities and growth ambitions, LHV Bank is committed to maintaining a robust and proportionate financial crime control environment.

Role Title: Data & AI Intern 

Location of internship: 1 Angel Court, London EC2R 7HJ

Length of Internship: 8 weeks

Start Date: 15th June - 7th August 2026

Schedule/Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 - 17:00

Student Type: Penultimate or Final Year students

This role is particularly suited for students studying: Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, or related subjects at undergraduate or postgraduate level

About the Role: 

This internship is designed to give early-career talent structured exposure to how Data and AI supports the bank's priorities. The work focuses on data quality, governance, operational resilience, dashboards, reporting, and safe AI enablement. It suits a student who enjoys both technical learning and understanding how data supports business decisions.

Main duties & responsibilities:

  • Learn how Data and AI supports the bank's priorities and wider business outcomes.
  • Build or extend a simple data dashboard.
  • Review selected Airflow and data warehouse pipelines to understand how data moves through the organisation.
  • Use a simple data and governance checklist to assess areas such as ownership, alerting, and naming clarity.
  • Take part in a small data and AI governance exercise.
  • Build low-code AI agents using templates in a safe, structured environment.
  • Present back to the team what you have learned and what opportunities you have identified.

Students will gain: 

  • Exposure to real Data and AI work in a banking environment.
  • Better understanding of data quality, governance, and operational resilience.
  • Experience with dashboards, pipelines, and data storytelling.
  • Introductory experience with safe AI enablement and agent-building.
  • Better understanding of ownership, controls, and practical business use cases.
  • Experience communicating technical and business insights clearly.

Person specification:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Confidence working with data in Excel, SQL, Python, BI tools, or similar.
  • Interest in data flows, dashboards, reporting, or AI tools.
  • Ability to understand structured processes and translate findings into clear outputs.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Accountability and openness to feedback.

Nice to have: 

  • Familiarity with dashboards, databases, or reporting tools.
  • Exposure to Python, SQL, Airflow, cloud tools, or low-code/no-code tools.
  • Interest in AI governance, data governance, or operational resilience.
  • Ability to bridge technical and business thinking.
