THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Philanthropy, the Intern, Philanthropy Data & Stewardship will be responsible for supporting accurate donor data management and stewardship processes within the Philanthropy and Partnerships (P&P) team. This role contributes to strengthening donor relationships and advancing fundraising goals by ensuring data integrity, documenting procedures, and assisting with donor stewardship activities. The Intern will play a key role in maintaining clean, reliable donor records and creating actionable insights that enable relationship managers to engage donors effectively and support the success of our strategic fundraising initiatives in 2026.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Data Management & Accuracy

  • Upload donor actions and gift information into the database with a high level of accuracy.
  • Verify and update donor gift details, including soft credits for donor-advised funds and third-party platforms (e.g., Benevity, Canada Helps).
  • Ensure primary and secondary donor relationships are correctly reflected in the database.
  • Conduct regular data quality checks to identify and correct errors.

Donor Recognition & Stewardship

  • Review donor records to identify recognition names for high-value donors based on lifetime and annual giving thresholds.
  • Create and maintain lists of donors requiring recognition updates and coordinate with relationship managers for outreach.
  • Input updated recognition information into donor profiles to support stewardship programs.

Collaboration, Research & Analysis

  • Work closely with P&P team members to ensure data supports strategic fundraising initiatives.
  • Research and analyze donor-advised fund (DAF) data to inform engagement strategies.
  • Support relationship mapping of volunteers and key stakeholders to strengthen connections and identify opportunities that will help grow philanthropy and fundraising efforts.

Qualifications include (but are not limited to):

  • This position is funded by the Government of Canada’s Canada Summer Job Program. To be eligible, youth must:
  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canadian accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
  • be a post-secondary student returning to school in the Fall.
  • Note: International students are not eligible participants. As the objective of the CSJ program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student's time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
  • Youth facing barriers to employment will be prioritized.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy when managing and reviewing data.
  • Interest in philanthropy, fundraising, or nonprofit sector and willingness to learn donor stewardship practices.
  • Familiarity with data management tools or CRM systems is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills for diverse audiences to build strong working relationships across cultural and organizational settings, both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated project management experience for task execution of assigned objectives supported by proficiency with MS Office tools and relevant technologies. Ability to work under pressure within tight timelines to achieve SCC objectives.
  • Displays analytical and problem-solving skills to support initiatives with demonstrated adaptability to support change management for successful task implementation.
  • Applies judgment and make sound decisions that are accountable, justifiable, and in adherence to policies and procedures.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • This position will be paid $20.00 CAD per hour. 
  • 35 hours per week. 
  • Duration: June 1 to July 24, 2026 (8 weeks).
