Role Overview 

Cortland Build is seeking a motivated Construction Summer Intern to join our team in the DC area for the summer. This is a hands-on opportunity for a student pursuing a degree in construction management or a related field to gain real-world experience on active multifamily renovation projects and within our project management operations. 

  • Shadow construction managers, interiors managers, and field staff on active multifamily renovation projects 
  • Participate in daily site walkthroughs, safety inspections, and progress documentation 
  • Support project administration by tracking RFIs, submittals, and maintaining document control 
  • Assist in preparing and updating project schedules, logs, and status reports 
  • Attend owner, architect, and subcontractor meetings; assist with meeting minutes and follow-ups 
  • Assist with material deliveries, including coordinating logistics, receiving shipments, and maintaining accurate on-site inventory 
  • Support quantity takeoffs, cost tracking, and budget reporting as needed 

Qualifications  

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field 
  • Interest in multifamily construction, renovation projects, and project management operations 
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field teams, subcontractors, and project stakeholders 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with construction or project management software is a plus 
  • Ability to work on-site in the DC area and adapt to a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
