About the Role

BASIC FUNCTION:

Assist the materials team by performing technical tasks in the office and on the plant floor.  The Intern student will be expected to contribute to the department's drive for continuous improvement in the areas of safety, product/process quality, and on-time customer delivery.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

The incumbent's job responsibilities necessitate communication with a wide variety of individuals.  Project work may require contact with Materials, Production, Skilled Trades, Manufacturing Engineering Teams, Tool Engineering, Sales and Purchasing personnel, or outside suppliers.  The incumbent consults with the team leader and functional manager on unusual problems and developments.  The incumbent applies supply chain management principles and practices in a broad area of assignments and related fields, so ongoing formal & informal education is required.

BorgWarner Transmission Systems manufactures friction elements, one-way clutches, and other transmission systems for automobiles, industrial equipment, and aircraft, in the world market. 

The position reports to a Functional Manager.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The incumbent’s accountabilities will vary depending on the department they are placed.  The Co-op Engineering Student will be assigned to work with one of the following departments:

  • Quality

  • Materials

  • Tool Engineering

  • Manufacturing Engineering

  • Product / Design Engineering

  • Production Supervision

  • Global Supply Management

REQUIREMENTS:

Degree Requirements: The candidate must be actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management.

Other Qualifications: Good written and verbal skills. PC skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  AutoCAD experience preferred.

Pay Range: $21.89 - $29.86
