THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE:

Reporting to the National Reconciliation Program staff, the Intern, Communications & Partnership Coordination will play a vital role in advancing Save the Children Canada's commitment to Indigenous-led international development and strengthening partnerships with Indigenous Nations and organizations both domestically and internationally. This role contributes to the organization's mission by developing communications materials that elevate Indigenous voices and perspectives, while maintaining robust systems for tracking and managing partnerships. The intern will support the National Reconciliation Program in documenting and sharing learnings from complex, multi-partner initiatives such as the Building Climate Resilience from Indigenous Perspectives (BCRIP) project, ensuring that SCC's partnership approach aligns with principles of localization, decolonization, and reciprocity.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Develop communications materials (including infographics, presentations, one-pagers, and social media content) thatshowcaseIndigenous-led initiatives and partnership approaches.
  • Support the creation of case studies and lessons learned documentation from projects such as BCRIP, translating complex project learnings into accessible formats for diverse audiences.
  • Assist with the preparation of project reports, briefing notes, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring content reflects Indigenous perspectives and governance approaches.
  • Collaborate with project teams to document innovative practices in Indigenous partnership management, including consensus-based decision-making and culturally responsive approaches.
  • Support the development of visual materials that communicate project impacts while adhering to Indigenous data sovereignty principles and SCC safeguarding policies.
  • Assist with the preparation of content for organizational learning activities such as Lunch & Learns and internal knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Maintain and update the partnership database, ensuring accurate records of Indigenous partners, organizational contacts, project timelines, and partnership agreements.
  • Track past, present, and future partnership projects, including key milestones, deliverables, and relationship development activities.
  • Develop andmaintainsystems for organizing partnership documents, including agreements, Terms of Reference, meeting minutes, and correspondence.
  • Support the preparation of partnership tracking reports and visualizations to inform strategic decision-making and relationship management.
  • Support the documentation of partnership formation processes, governance structures, and lessons learned to inform future partnership development.
  • Assist with tracking key dates, reporting deadlines, and partnership milestones across multiple concurrent projects.

Qualifications include (but are not limited to):

  • This position is funded by the Government of Canada’s Canada Summer Job Program. To be eligible, youth must:
  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canadain accordance withrelevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
  • be a post-secondary student returning to school in the Fall.
  • Note: International students are not eligible participants. As the objective of the CSJ program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student's time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.

  • Current student enrolled in or recently graduated from Studies in Communications, Indigenous Studies, International Development, Social Work, Environmental Studies, or other relevant field who meets the Canada Summer Jobs Grant eligibility criteria.
  • Strong written and visual communication skills withdemonstratedability to develop clear, engaging content for diverse audiences. Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is an asset.
  • Demonstrated interest in or knowledge of Indigenous rights, reconciliation, climate justice, or international development. Lived experience with Indigenous communities or organizations is considered a strong asset.
  • Proficiency with database management, spreadsheet tools (Excel, Google Sheets), and document management systems (SharePoint, Google Drive). Comfort learning new digital tools and platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines across different projects.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills for diverse audiences to build strong working relationships across cultural and organizational settings, both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated project management experience for task execution of assigned objectives supported by proficiency with MS Office tools and relevant technologies. Ability to work under pressure within tight timelines to achieve SCC objectives.
  • Displays analytical and problem-solving skills to support initiatives withdemonstratedadaptability to support change management for successful task implementation.
  • Applies judgment and make sound decisions that are accountable, justifiable, and in adherence to policies and procedures.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • This position will be paid $20.00 CAD per hour. 
  • 35 hours per week. 
  • Duration: June 1 to July 24, 2026 (8 weeks).
