About the Role

Summary - Job Responsibilities – Activities:

AMSC is looking for an intern to work with the Superconductor Development Projects Group to assist in the development of a superconductor product for use in the US Navy. We seek an individual who is motivated and excited about working with cutting-edge superconductor technology in a dynamic and creative environment to support the Superconductor Development team.


Functions:

• Assist product development engineers on the modification, assembly, and test of a large diameter superconducting magnet system.

• Assist in the preparation of superconducting wire and superconducting coils used in the superconducting system.

• Assist in the testing of wire and magnet coils for use in superconducting magnets.

• Support manufacturing setup for new company production line.

• Support engineering documentation efforts for new and development products.


Education - Experience:

Ideal candidates should be enrolled in one of the following Bachelor’s degree program at an accredited college or

university.

• B.S. Physics

• B.S. Chemistry

• B.S. Chemical Engineering

• B.S. Mechanical Engineering

• B.S. Electrical Engineering


Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs:

• Candidate needs to be a US citizen for participation in ITAR controlled products and documentation

• Ability to execute and follow documented laboratory procedures

• Ability to accurately capture executed work steps executed in a laboratory notebook, laptop or other media

• Experience with laboratory setup and laboratory most common tools (oscilloscope, meters, probes, etc)

• Familiarity with CAD systems is desirable (not required)

• Good written and oral communication skills

• Good group interaction skills
