About the Role

Description

This isn't a shadow-and-observe internship. As our Continuous Improvement Intern, you will be handed a real operational challenge, given the tools and support to dig into it, and expected to deliver a solution. Working alongside our operations team, you'll apply Lean principles and process engineering thinking to identify inefficiencies, develop improvements, and see your work through to implementation.

If you are studying engineering or manufacturing and want to know what it actually feels like to solve problems on a fast-paced production floor - this is an opportunity for you!

About You

At Accord Carton, our passion is helping clients bring their products to life through unique, high-quality packaging. Since 1940, we have continued to improve our process and find new and innovative ways to serve our clients. Now, imagine being part of that legacy!  Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where your contributions directly impact the bottom line?

See your work come to life on store shelves and know you played a part in a product’s success story.

If you value teamwork and appreciate opportunities for professional growth, we want you in our family!

What You Will Do

  • Analyze current manufacturing and operational processes to identify inefficiencies and root causes
  • Apply Lean and process engineering methodologies to develop practical, measurable improvements
  • Collaborate with operations staff and floor teams to understand workflows and test solutions
  • Document findings, progress, and outcomes in a format that can be shared with leadership

What Success Looks Like

A successful internship means one thing above all: a completed Continuous Improvement initiative with a defined goal, a clear process, and a measurable outcome. Beyond that, you will leave having:

  • Gained hands-on experience applying Lean and CI methodologies in a real manufacturing environment
  • Built relationships with operations and floor staff who can speak to your problem-solving ability
  • Developed a project you're proud to present; in an interview, a portfolio, or a capstone

Requirements

  • Foundational knowledge of Lean principles, Six Sigma concepts, or continuous improvement methodologies (coursework counts)
  • A genuine interest in how things are made and how processes can be made better
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; you are comfortable digging into a messy situation and finding structure in it
  • Communication skills to work with both floor-level staff and leadership
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working with a degree of independence
  • Intermediate to Advanced computer skills - Office365 with emphasis on Excel and other report generating software systems
