About the Role:

The Paralegal Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the legal team by assisting with the preparation and review of legal documents, conducting research, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This position offers an immersive experience in the legal aspects of financial services, providing exposure to contract analysis, litigation support, and corporate governance. The intern will contribute to the efficient operation of the legal department by organizing case files, drafting correspondence, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders. Through hands-on involvement, the intern will develop a comprehensive understanding of legal procedures and documentation specific to the finance and insurance industry. Ultimately, this role aims to build foundational legal skills and industry knowledge that will prepare the candidate for a future career in law or compliance within financial services.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited legal studies program or related field.
  • Basic understanding of legal terminology and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous internship or work experience in a legal or compliance environment, preferably within finance or insurance.
  • Familiarity with financial regulations and compliance standards.
  • Experience using legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and organizing legal documents such as contracts, agreements, and regulatory filings.
  • Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents affecting the finance and insurance industry.
  • Support the legal team in preparing materials for meetings, hearings, and compliance audits.
  • Maintain and update case management systems and ensure all documentation is accurate and accessible.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and compliance officers to ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
