This Part-Time Commercial Services Intern position starts at $19.00 per hour. This is a 12-week opportunity at 30 hours per week. We also offer the following benefits for all employees: 401k, Paid Holidays, Paid Time Off, Paid Volunteer Hours, and an Advia Sponsored Wellness Program.

The Commercial Services Intern provides hands-on support to the Commercial Services team while gaining practical exposure to commercial sales, underwriting, and loan operations. This internship is project-based, with a strong focus on data input and document storage and is designed to help the intern understand how commercial deals move from opportunity to approval to booking and ongoing servicing.

This role is ideal for a student interested in commercial banking, finance, business operations, or sales who wants real-world experience in a collaborative, professional environment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Developmental & Rotational Exposure

  •  Sales & Relationship Management: Observes how commercial lenders and treasury partners engage with members and prospects.
  •  Underwriting & Credit: Gains insight into financial spreading, credit analysis, and deal structuring (non-decision-making).
  •  Operations & Servicing: Learns how commercial loans are booked, documented, and maintained post-closing.
  •  Professional Development: Participating in job shadowing, mentoring conversations, and team meetings as available.

Commercial Data Input & System Support Project

  •  Assists with entering and validating commercial relationships, loan, and financial data into internal systems and reporting tools.
  •  Supports data cleanup, organization, and migration efforts to ensure accuracy and consistency across platforms.
  •  Partners with Commercial Credit and Operations team members to understand how data is used in underwriting, risk assessment, and portfolio management.

Document Storage & File Organization Project

  •  Assists with organizing, indexing, and maintaining electronic commercial loan and relationship files in accordance with internal standards.
  •  Supports document storage initiatives to ensure files are complete, accessible, and audit ready.
  •  Learns document requirements across the commercial loan lifecycle, including underwriting, approval, booking, and servicing.

Requirements

Experience

  •  Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  •  Comfortable working with data, documents, and multiple systems.
  •  Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); ability to learn new systems quickly.
  •  Professional communication skills and a willingness to learn.
  •  Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow security guidelines.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

  •  Pursuing a degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (preferred).

Interpersonal Skills

Courtesy and tact are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with customers and others inside and outside the organization, generally regarding fairly routine matters for the purposes of giving and obtaining information or instructions, updating or referring. Communications generally require shorter and not in-depth discussions.


Physical Requirements

Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and regularly lifting cash box of up to 10 lbs. and coin bags up to 50 lbs on occasion. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.


Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.


Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to use basic math skills and spell accurately up to a highschool graduate level. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
