About the Role

Description

The Brand Design Fellow will have the opportunity to work with the Brand Design team to create innovative, well-designed brand and marketing materials in keeping with the Chronicle Books aesthetic. This role has a focus on digital and online materials but does include some print materials.


 Chronicle Books is a highly collaborative, team-oriented work environment that requires good interpersonal and communication skills, as well as an ability to multitask and take initiative. 


The position involves a wide range of responsibilities, of which the primary duties are to support the in-house designers and manage multiple projects simultaneously, developing creative, appropriate design solutions for online promotions for our website and across all social media and trade channels. It requires close collaboration with Brand and Marketing staff to help the group achieve both creative and financial goals.


Responsibilities:

Develop concepts for, design, and produce the following: 

· Digital assets including: social media campaigns, advertisements that may include animated gifs or other video output, email blasts, landing pages and a variety of other promotions

· Print Assets including: sell sheets, postcards, children’s activity sheets and print ads

· Trade show booth graphics/digital assets, working in conjunction with Senior Designer.

· Work with Brand Design group to collaborate on company identity and brand graphics as needed

Production & Administrative responsibilities include: 

· Process existing cover images, book pages, art, author photos and other graphics for digital outreach, sales presentations, publicity requests, and social media posts

· Attend weekly Brand meetings and share information and expertise about design and branding trends.

· Organize and archive files in a timely and orderly fashion.

· Assist the brand photographer on photo shoots

Work collaboratively with other departments: 

Work with Marketing, Publicity, Sales, and other departments to design brand marketing materials to meet their goals in keeping with the brand aesthetic.


 Qualifications:
All applicants for the Brand Design Fellowship must have a strong interest in branding, marketing, and book publishing.


 Education:
In addition to college and art school graduates, we encourage applicants relatively new to graphic design to apply for this opportunity as well. Applicants are not required to have had a formal education in the field, but must possess proficient skills with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, as well as an interest in marketing design. 


Salary:

$21.64 hr
 


Requirements

 · Strong working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, and Microsoft Word

· Communication skills, written and verbal, in English

· Prioritization, multitasking, and organization skills

· Interpersonal, collaborative skills

· Understanding of typography

· Ability to flow text in long form

· Additional skills not required but a plus to have: illustration, animation, photography/videography, packaging design, knowledge of offset printing techniques
