About The Company
The St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD) is one of five Florida water management districts that is responsible for managing groundwater and surface water resources in Florida. SJRWMD covers an 18-county region in northeast and east-central Florida. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection has general supervisory authority over the water management districts. The five water management districts were established in 1972 by Chapter 373, Florida Statutes, as independent special districts and were empowered by the electorate in 1976 to assess ad valorem taxes to fund the management of the state’s water resources, and related land resources, to benefit people and the environment. Each water management district is administered by a Governing Board composed of residents appointed by Florida’s Governor and confirmed by the Florida Senate. Core Missions • Water supply — To implement a regional strategy to provide sufficient water for users and the environment. • Water quality — To protect and improve water quality. • Natural systems — To protect and improve natural systems. • Flood protection — To prevent increases in flooding and operate and maintain SJRWMD’s regional flood control projects.

Job Summary

This is a paid internship program. Intern will support the agency’s Human Resources team with a primary focus on conducting a comprehensive job classification and position description audit. This internship provides hands-on experience with a Florida public sector agency, offering exposure to classification standards, merit principles and public-sector HR practices. In addition to audit related work, the intern will assist with a variety of HR projects and administrative support functions as needed. The intern will review and analyze job classifications and position descriptions for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with classification guidelines; collaborate with HR staff to gather job-related information; and assist in documenting recommended updates or corrections. The role may also include supporting recruitment activities, data organization, policy research, HR reporting, training preparation, and other projects as needed. 


Minimum Qualifications:

College or university student currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program and either attending classes or participating in a work experience program sanctioned by the individual school and at least a junior level (senior level preferred) studying in a related field.


All students must maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher.


Additional Details:

Internship will run for a period of 13 weeks. The work is 20-hours per week. 

Availability and schedule will be discussed when contacted for an interview. 

Intern will produce reports/presentation to highlight accomplishments.


Salary: $15.00/hour


Work Location: Palatka, FL
