REQUIREMENT

The Wright Scholar Research Assistant Program is an Air Force Research Laboratory initiative designed to expose high school juniors and seniors (and select college scholars retained by mentors) to various disciplines of engineering and science to further their interest in future STEM careers with the Department of Defense. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Wright Scholars are competitively selected to work as full-time, paid research assistants for 8 weeks during the summer and MUST be 16-years-old (by June 1, 2026), U.S. citizen, pass a background check, validated 3.5 GPA, and a valid driver's license or state ID. Interns are responsible for securing your own housing, food, and transportation (program administrators are not responsible nor can assist on a scholar's behalf).


 

EDUCATIONAL, CLEARANCE AND CERTIFICATION

  • MUST be 16 years old (by June 1, 2026)
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Pass a background check
  • Must have a validated 3.5 GPA and be enrolled in High School, or a recent graduate
  • Must have a valid driver's license or state ID to access Wright-Patterson Air Force Base

PHYSICAL/WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Primary work environment is a standard office setting.

 

TRAVEL

  • Travel is not anticipated, but if performed will be under the guidelines of Federal Travel Regulations and/or Joint Travel Regulations.
