LOGAN is a community organization which provides advocacy, services and resources for children and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Since 1950, LOGAN has been here for families, expanding to meet changing needs through ventures like the Sonya Ansari Center for Autism. Now reaching more than 1,500 families each year, LOGAN provides a full range of services from therapies and specialty camps for children to employment, training, recreation and community living options for teens and adults. About the Role

Description

Position Overview

The Summer Events Intern will support LOGAN’s community engagement and special events efforts through hands-on experience in event planning, coordination, and educational programming. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for a student or emerging professional interested in nonprofit event management, community outreach, and program development.

The intern will work closely with the LOGAN Marketing team to assist with planning and executing summer events while also helping to create meaningful educational opportunities for families, caregivers, and community members.


Responsibilities

Event Support

  • Assist with event planning checklists and preparation tasks. 
  • Observe and support vendor coordination, including venues, catering, and audiovisual services. 
  • Help assemble event timelines, schedules, and run-of-show documents. 
  • Support guest check-in and on-site logistics for the Garden Party 
  • Capture event photos and videos for marketing and social media use. 
  • Assist with event setup, breakdown, and general day-of support.


Community Education

  • Plan and help implement a Lunch & Learn program for community members. 
  • Assist in developing and facilitating a client health and nutrition class. 
  • Help create educational materials, presentations, and supporting resources. 
  • Support outreach and promotion efforts to encourage participation. 

Learning Opportunities

Through this internship, the selected candidate will gain experience in:

  • Nonprofit event planning and logistics. 
  • Community engagement and outreach. 
  • Program development and facilitation. 
  • Marketing and event storytelling through photo/video content. 
  • Collaboration with vendors, staff, and community partners.


Requirements

Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing experience in nonprofit management, communications, education, social work, event planning, Health education, or community wellness, or a related field, preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written communication skills
  • Comfortable engaging with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs)
  • Creative, enthusiastic, and driven to promote inclusion and community impact.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with social media platforms
  • Available for the full-day Garden Party Event on July 10, 2026

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • For those positions with driving responsibilities, you must have a valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, vehicle registration, and an acceptable driving record that meets the risk management standards for insurability on LOGAN's commercial auto insurance policy. 
  • Ability to communicate well orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to travel within the county and occasional travel may be required out of the county area.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly rate of pay is $15.00
