(Summer) 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Thursday, 32-hour work week (Fall – flexible)

Wage Rate:

$21.50/hour

Job Summary 

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship is designed for college students who are eager to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world environment while gaining valuable industry experience. This position will work with our Engineering team by assisting them in design development, update and produce Solid Works models and technical drawings, Improve engineering file management and technical drawing storage systems. Participate in prototype assembly and testing processes. Be responsible for examining and evaluating raw material, assemblies, and finished goods to design requirements. The successful candidate must be proactive, results-driven, self-motivated, and dedicated to excellence. 


Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, development, and testing of mechanical components and systems
  • Support engineering teams with CAD modeling and create/update technical drawings
  • Improve engineering file management and technical drawing storage systems
  • Conduct research and analysis to support ongoing projects
  • Participate in prototype assembly and testing processes
  • Document findings, prepare reports, and present results to team members
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing and quality assurance
  • Assist in analyzing customer returns for warranty including failure analysis if deemed a design issue
  • Develop and update working instructions for assembly, inspection protocols and/or functional inspections on incoming materials, assemblies, and finished goods
  • Create and/or revise manufacturing instructions for assembly, standard procedures, process specifications, product inspections, engineering forms, and visual standards; ensuring the latest revision is controlled and used
  • Write Technical Product Specifications and Data charts as needed for use in marketing and customer communications
  • Communicate with our domestic and foreign suppliers regarding product evaluations and quality concerns
  • Perform additional tasks that may be assigned by management

Safety Responsibilities: 

  • Employee will be required to wear the provided PPE per the role requirements when working with manufacturing
  • Follow site safety and any department specific protocols
  • Report safety hazards or potential safety hazards to reporting Supervisor
  • Attend company safety meetings

 

Education & Experience: 

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and fundamentals
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
  • Experience with simulation tools
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines


Skills & Abilities:

  • Previous internship or project experience
  • Understanding of Engineering Designs, Manufacturing and Assembly Processes
  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Ability to problem-solve
  • Use various precision measuring devices
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with management, engineering colleagues, other associates, customers, and suppliers
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • A commitment to the concept of “doing it right the first time.”

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer 
  • Must be able to walk the operations floor on a regular basis 
  • Stand and bend without difficulty
  • Lift up to 50 pounds at a time
