Click here for a quick look at benefits!   Applicant must be 18 years or older to apply   Position Summary The purpose of the Intern - Finance and Operations position is to provide a college student currently enrolled in the field of business with the opportunity to gain experience in the Finance and Operations Department, information technology and summer programming in a local government environment. This position is required to adhere to all Waukegan Park District(District) policies and procedures.   Essential Functions Assists the Manager of Operations in District instructional golf programs such as, but not limited to, registrations, communicating with participants, and providing golf instruction. Assists the Manager of Information Technology with IT related needs. Assists the Director of Finance and Operations in researching report and record systems. Assists in gathering data and analyzing workforce statistics. Assists with financial reporting and budgeting. Assists the Account and Fixed Assets Specialist with organizing and filing receipts and statements of District purchasing activities using procurement cards. Assists the Account and Fixed Assets Specialist with maintenance of accounting platform such as, but not limited to, updating, inventorying, and organizing vendor data. Supports the Finance and Operations Department in organizing and assembling financial documents in an electronic format for the annual audit. Assists the Finance and Software Specialist with maintenance of registration platform such as, but not limited to, determining validity and accuracy of data. Assists the Finance and Software Specialist in implementing updates or changes in registration platform. Drives District vehicles. Assists staff in the performance of their duties. Responds to customer inquiries or directs to appropriate staff as necessary. Available during standard workday hours, with additional availability on weekday late afternoon and early evening hours. Works special events as needed. Works evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned. Conducts duties adhering to all safety requirements. Performs other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor to support the Finance and Operations Department or the District. QualificationsQualifications Education Minimum of one (1) completed year in a college or university program in business-related studies and enrolled for the upcoming fall session Experience Experience in business concepts preferred In lieu of experience in business concepts, relevant completed education will be acceptable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Microsoft Office experience in Excel/Word/Outlook Demonstrate initiative and responsibility Manage workload and hours with minimal direction Make timely and effective decisions Prioritize work efficiently and effectively Follow procedures to obtain appropriate results Communicate effectively through listening, speaking, writing, and non-verbal cues Develop positive interpersonal rapport with departments, public, vendors, contractors, media, and community groups Operate job related equipment Golf and golf terminology preferred Perform basic mathematical calculations.
