Investment Data Operations Intern

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Investment Data Operations Intern to join our experienced Investments Operations team. Reporting directly to AVP, Data and Reporting Manager, the Investment Data Operations Intern will support data governance, reporting and operational processes across the investment portfolio, working closely with the Investments team, IT and external partners. The role offers exposure to a broad range of asset classes and investment data as well as to ongoing transformation initiatives and AI-enabled capabilities.

The asset portfolio is ~$34bn in size. Investments contribute materially to the Company’s overall return and generates ~$430m of income per quarter. Working with an experienced and talented Investments team that manages ~35% of the portfolio internally, the role also offers the opportunity to interact with some of the leading asset managers across the globe.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support data operations activities across the investment portfolio, ensuring accuracy and completeness of holdings, transactions, and market data

  • Assist in monitoring and improving data quality across internal systems and platforms

  • Contribute to the production and delivery of recurring investment reporting

  • Assist in investigating, escalating, and resolving data issues in collaboration with Investments, IT, and external data providers

  • Support data reconciliation processes and help identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements

  • Partner with the team to document processes, controls, and data workflows aligned to investment operations activities

  • Contribute to initiatives focused on the use of automation and AI tools to enhance data processing, reconciliation, and reporting

  • Support Engineering team in POC across a variety of AI use cases leveraging various tools.

Candidate Skills

  • Degree or higher in Finance, Data Analytics, Business, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

  • Proficiency in Excel, plus experience with programming languages such as Python or/and R.

  • Experience and interest in using AI tooling such as ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Co-Pilot.

  • Knowledge of financial markets would be an advantage.

  • An analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to take initiative, work in a team-orientated environment and unsupervised is essential.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Drive, energy, curiosity and ability to execute instructions in a fast-paced environment.
