The Opportunity 


The Project Officer, National Programs will help shape the future of Habitat Canada’s national program strategy. In this role, you’ll lead research and analysis on sustainability, climate-resilient building practices, skills training and apprenticeship programs. Your insights will inform Habitat’s national programs supporting more inclusive and resilient housing solutions for families across Canada, as well as support partnerships that drive innovation and impact. If you’re passionate about creating greener homes and building stronger communities, this is your chance to make a meaningful difference.


This is an excellent eight (8) weeks summer student job opportunity to learn more about nonprofits and housing issues. This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs youth employment program. You must meet the eligibility requirements for Canada Summer jobs in order to be considered for this position, including being between the ages of 15 and 30.


Your Impact 


As a valued member of our team, you will help advance our strategy to significantly increase the number of families obtaining and maintaining affordable housing. In this role, you will:

  • Lead research and analysis keynational program prioritiesincludingsustainability, climateresiliency, and green buildingas well as skills training and apprenticeship programs. 
  • Turn insights into action by analyzingbest practices,standardsand innovationsto inform our nationalprogramframework and theory of change.
  • Guide decision making through clear, actionablereports and recommendationsthat shape program design.
  • Drive impact through partnerships byidentifyingpotential funding sources and partnerships aligned with Habitat’sprogramobjectivesaroundsustainability, climate resiliency, skills building and apprenticeship programs.
  • Collaborate for success by workingclosely with the National Programs team and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Communicate effectively by preparing clear, concise reports and presentations for internal and external audiences.
  • Support growth by contributing tothe development of funding opportunities and the preparation of proposalsin accordance withdonor requirements. 
  • Be a team player by supporting the National Programs teamwith any other ad hoc requestsandparticipatinginHabitat Canada staff meetings and events asneeded.

Qualifications 

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably insustainability, publicpolicyor a related field.
  • 1+ yearsof experience in project management, program design,researchor related areas.
  • Knowledge of sustainability principles, green building practices, and/orskillsdevelopment programs is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects and delivering results in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights.
  • Excellent problem-solving and priority-setting skills, with a proven ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to prepare clear, concise reports and presentations.
  • Effective at developing positive working relationshipsevidencedbya track recordof teamwork and collegiality.
  • Commitment to Habitat’s mission and values, including equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.

Working Conditions


The Project Officer works during Habitat Canada’s normal office hours 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and may on occasion be required to attend a partner related event outside of normal office hours.


Salary Range 


$17.60/Hour

Contract Duration:  8 Weeks.
