43 million people in the world are blind, and 90% of them live where access to eye care is difficult or impossible. These people often live in loneliness and exclusion. Cure Blindness Project is a global nonprofit organization driven to help people retain or regain their sight. To make that happen, we enable underserved communities to cure avoidable blindness by developing high-quality, cost-effective, sustainable eye care wherever they are. For 17 million blind people, sight could be cured with a 10-minute cataract surgery. For the millions suffering from corneal blindness, early intervention means their condition can be treated and not progress to blindness. At Cure Blindness Project, we believe avoidable blindness can – and must – be overcome. For nearly 30 years, we have worked alongside a capable network of collaborators to provide more than 1.6 million sight-restoring surgeries and screenings to more than 16.5 million people. We’ve trained more than 20,100 eye health professionals, and established 5 eye hospitals. What started in the Himalayas has now reached 30 countries. Cure Blindness Project is striving for a summit where sight is in reach. There is more work left to do, but we can overcome the mountain of global blindness.
About the Role

Summer Internship Program (TAP)

Internship – College

Location: Onsite at 817 Silver Spring Ave, Suite #301, Silver Spring, MD 20910 

Proposed Start Date: 15 hours/week, starting June 15, 2026

Proposed End Date: August 14, 2026

Reporting to: Director of Procurement

Aim: Intern will gain exposure to various aspects of our organization's operations, including project management, administrative tasks, and internal processes, procurement and logistics.


ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE: 

For more than 43 million people, blindness is a daily reality; another 295 million suffer from moderate to severe vision impairment. 90% of these people live in low- and middle-income countries where access to eye care is limited and the challenges for those who can’t see are severe. But there is hope: 80% of this burden is treatable or preventable. For example, 17 million blind people could be cured with a 10-minute cataract surgery. Millions more suffer from corneal blindness, which is often preventable or treatable. At Cure Blindness Project, we believe avoidable blindness can – and must – be overcome. For more than 30 years, we have worked alongside a capable network of collaborators to help people around the world retain and regain their sight by developing high-quality, cost-effective eye care systems in underserved areas of the world. With the help of partners in more than 30 countries, Cure Blindness Project has provided more than 2 million sight-restoring surgeries and screened more than 20 million people to provide care and basic treatments. We’ve trained more than 25,200 eye health professionals and have established 6 eye hospitals. There is more work left to do, but we can overcome the mountain of global blindness together.

Scope of Work:

  • Scanning & filing of documents
  • Support procurement/logisticsteam with research,purchasingand shipping of medical supplies(International & Domestic)
  • Perform general clerical duties:maintainfiles and documentation
  • Attend team meetings and prepare reports
  • Data Entry
  • Help with inventory management 
  • Assistin updating and reorganization of electronic file management systems
  • Support the execution and management of any special projects: tracking timelines and deliverables

Physical requirements:
