About the Role

The Summer Production Helper provides handson support to the Operations team in a manufacturing environment. This role assists with process analysis, production efficiency initiatives, plant layout and asset tracking activities, and operational reporting. The position offers exposure to realworld manufacturing systems, continuous improvement practices, and crossfunctional plant operations while contributing to key summer projects and plant events.

Qualifications

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with tact time studies to evaluate production flow and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements
  • Support tact time and plant performance display systems, including data updates and basic troubleshooting
  • Provide support for plant layout reviews, including data collection, documentation, and improvement recommendations
  • Assist with plant asset tracking processes, including inventory validation and tracking accuracy support
  • Support cost reduction calculations and tracking, including data gathering, analysis, and reporting
  • Perform other tasks related to increasing operational efficiency, continuous improvement, and standard work documentation
  • Provide operational and logistical support for the Godfrey/Hurricane Dealer Open House, including preparation, setup, and coordination as needed
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and manufacturing best practices while working in the production environment

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program related to Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field (preferred but not required)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to collect and analyze data accurately
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
  • Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and work independently or as part of a team
  • Willingness to work in a production/manufacturing environment

 Other Skills/Abilities

  • Familiarity with manufacturing concepts such as tact time, lean manufacturing, or continuous improvement (preferred but not required)
  • Experience working in a production or industrial setting (preferred but not required)
  • Interest in operational efficiency, process improvement, or manufacturing systems
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout a manufacturing facility for extended periods
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
  • Comfortable working around production equipment while following all safety requirements
