About the Role

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.

This internship is a part of a 10-week full-time summer internship program opportunity. This role will be based at Archer’s headquarters in San Jose, California and relocation or housing will not be provided. 

Archer is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join Archer. This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to gain practical experience within the Landing Gear team. In this internship role, you will support the design, development, and validation of Archer’s Landing Gear and Brake Control Systems. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Support the design, build, and implementation of flight hardware, test stands, procedures and reports, for qualification, certification, and production applications.
  • Team responsibilities include the landing gear, brake system, wheels, and tires. 
  • Collaborate on the technical direction of the designs with the Landing Gear team, as well as the management of their delivery, conformity, test, and certification.
  • Performance analysis, eg: braking energy, multibody dynamic landing analysis.
  • Write, review and conduct tests at the equipment and system level. 
  • Flight test data review.

What You Need:

  • Knowledge in mechanical design and drawing generation using CAD tools
  • Experience working with Siemens NX CAD and Simcenter FEA tools is a plus
  • Knowledge in kinematic analysis and optimization
  • Understanding of structural analysis utilizing hand calculations and finite element methods
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills 
  • Strong organization and project management skills 
  • Eager to learn, positive attitude, and highly motivated
  • Engineering Student design team experience  (Baja SAE/Formula SAE) is an asset
  • Experience working with hand tools (wrenches, ratchets, torquing, etc.) is an asset

Summer 2026 Internship Program Details:

  • This internship is a part of a 10-week full-time summer internship program opportunity. Program dates are:
    • *We will not be able to accommodate interns outside of these two program dates.
    • May 26, 2026 - July 31, 2026
    • June 15, 2026 - August 21, 2026
  • This role will be based at Archer in San Jose, CA
  • Relocation and housing will not be provided.
