This position requires candidates to upload a resume in English; you are welcome to upload multiple versions of your resume if you prefer but an English version of your resume will be required to be considered for this position.

The IOTS Pathfinding team is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineer Intern to join our team in Guadalajara. In this role, you will support readiness and scalability for next-generation high-speed I/O technologies (PCI Express, UPI, CXL, USB) by assisting in technology pathfinding projects critical to future server platforms and Intel's data center leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and automate simulation workflows for next-generation electro-optical links that include components such as modulators and photodetectors.
  • Benchmark electro-optical link parameters such as insertion loss, bandwidth, dispersion, and crosstalk through parameter sweeps and comparative simulations.
  • Perform laboratory bench measurements using test equipment to directly validate and correlate results with simulation models.
  • Analyze and document differences between electrical and electro-optical link performance, providing comparative technical insights.
  • Prepare and maintain deliverables, including simulation scripts, data from
  • parameter sweeps, measurement procedures, lab results, and technical reports.
  • Synthesize findings to generate recommendations for new electro-optical component architectures and contributions to next-generation I/O specifications.
  • Collaborate with team members presenting analysis and results in technical forums and reports.

Behavioral Traits

  • Eagerness to learn and apply new technical concepts.
  • Sense of ownership and accountability for assigned tasks.
  • Work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proactive, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Open to feedback and continuous improvement.

What You Will Learn

  • Experience with optical simulation and lab analysis.
  • Skills in workflow automation and test data correlation.
  • Exposure to advanced I/O technologies and team collaboration.
  • Insight into career paths in optical and I/O engineering.
  • Supportive environment for building strong technical foundations.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position.  Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor, Master's degree or PhD's Degreen in Electronics or Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field (with at least 1 year remaining before graduation).
  • 3+ months of experience in Electrical Engineering (both Digital and Analog Electronics).
  • Advance English level.
  • Must have unrestricted, permanent right to work in Mexico (this role is not eligible for visa or immigration sponsorship).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with electro-optical components and link concepts (e.g., modulators, photodetectors, insertion loss, bandwidth, dispersion, crosstalk).
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, power supplies, optical/electrical probes, multimeters) and comfort executing bench measurement procedures to correlate with simulation.
  • Intermediate programming/scripting skills in Python (preferred) or C++ for workflow automation, data processing, and parameter sweeps.
  • Read and interpret electronic/optical component datasheets and document results clearly in technical reports and presentations.
  • Experience performing link-level analysis/benchmarking and communicating tradeoffs (e.g., electrical vs. electro-optical links) using data-driven comparisons.

A candidate who accepts an offer of employment in Mexico is required to present their own personal identification information and numbers for the following: Mexican Security Number (NSS), Tax Identification Number (RFC) and CURP identification number.
