About the Role

Position Title: Summer Intern, Newspaper in Education (NIE)

Location: Hybrid (Tampa office + remote)

Schedule: Part-time, 15–20 hours/week for 8 weeks (beginning June 8)


Position Summary

The Tampa Bay Times Newspaper in Education (NIE) program is seeking a part-time summer intern to support communications, marketing, engagement, and fundraising initiatives. This role offers hands-on experience across multiple channels, including digital, print, and in-person outreach. The intern will work closely with the NIE team to help execute campaigns, support events, and assist with day-to-day administrative functions.


Responsibilities

  • Assist with NIE communications and marketing efforts across social media, email, direct mail, and print 
  • Support fundraising and development initiatives, including donor outreach and campaign coordination 
  • Conduct online research to support program initiatives and outreach efforts 
  • Help create and edit content, including social media graphics and marketing materials 
  • Provide administrative support, including data entry, scheduling, and general office tasks 
  • Assist with planning and execution of in-person events in the Tampa office 
  • Maintain organization across multiple projects and ensure timely follow-through on assignments 


Required Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate 
  • Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office or Google Workspace) 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously 
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive, professional attitude 
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with strong follow-through 
  • Ability to conduct effective online research 
  • Must have your own reliable, up-to-date laptop 
  • Commitment to upholding Tampa Bay Times standards, including ethics policies
