About The Company
Figure is an AI Robotics company building the world's first commercially viable autonomous humanoid robot. We are based in San Jose, CA.
About the Role

Figure is an AI robotics company developing autonomous general-purpose humanoid robots. The goal of the company is to ship humanoid robots with human level intelligence. Its robots are engineered to perform a variety of tasks in the home and commercial markets. Figure is headquartered in San Jose, CA.

We are looking for a Electrical Interconnect Engineering Intern for Fall 2026 to support the design, prototyping, and validation of electrical interconnect systems (connectors, cable harnesses, and electromechanical interfaces) for humanoid robotic platforms. This role emphasizes mechanical design, hands-on prototyping, and reliability testing in dynamic environments (vibration, mating cycles, and thermal loading). This role will work closely with senior engineers on connector design concepts, prototyping activities, and reliability engineering (REL) tasks. This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to real hardware programs in a fast-paced robotics environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Support connector and cable harness design activities (concept development, CAD modeling, drawings).
  • Define mechanical details: tolerances, fits, plastic design considerations.
  • Assist with prototype builds, test fixture preparation, and hardware validation.
  • Help execute reliability testing and define failure modes (mating cycles, strain relief, environmental exposure).
  • Support documentation such as test plans, reports, and engineering change inputs.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (EE, ME, manufacturing, supply chain).
  • Assist with lab organization, part tracking, and prototype logistics.

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field, and is in their final year of school.
  • Exposure to CAD tools (CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Ability to break down complex problems and recommend solutions from a first principles approach.
  • Hands-on mindset and willingness to work in a lab environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Experience with cable harnesses, interconnects, or 3D printed prototyping.
  • Injection molding basics.
  • Familiarity with basic reliability or validation testing.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and basic electrical schematics.
  • Data analysis exposure is a plus.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $40 – $45/hr.

The pay offered for this position may vary based on several individual factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional components/benefits depending on the specific role. This information will be shared if an employment offer is extended.
