About the Role

This is an opportunity for engineering students to gain real-world experience while working at a world class electrical motor manufacturer. Support design, development, and testing of various brushed and brushless DC motors, stepper motor based linear actuators, drives, and complete custom automation sub-systems. The ideal candidate will enjoy solving challenging technical problems by applying engineering principles learned in the classroom, and by collaborating with experienced engineers, technicians, and various departments.

 

What you will do:

  • Work with engineers to design, test, document, and validate new products
  • Build, document, and validate the electro-mechanical performance of motors, drives, and circuitry
  • Alleviate design issues and/or improve designs through the engineering change procedure
  • Execute tests, analyze data, and generate technical reports to inform management
  • Develop GUI and electronic hardware to perform automated tests
  • Write or edit code to debug test simulation and/or equipment

What we are looking for:

REQUIRED

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
  • Sophomore or higher-level standing
  • Coursework or experience related to electrical engineering principles
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize thoughts, files, and data well
  • Team player with a highly pro-active and positive attitude with ability to work on own or in a team as needed

PREFERRED

  • Knowledge or interest in electrical motors and/or drives
  • Ability to interpret drawings and schematics
  • Experience working in lab or shop environment
  • Hands-on capability with typical electrical test and measurement equipment
  • Familiar with electronic component technical data sheets

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work environment is split between office and laboratory work, with most work being performed in the office. The noise level in the office is typically quiet while the noise level in the lab can occasionally require hearing protection. While performing the duties of the position, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle and feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 40 pounds.
