Job Description:

The IT Security & Compliance Intern will support Kinetico’s Accounting & Finance team by assisting with cybersecurity documentation, audit readiness, and compliance activities aligned to the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. This internship provides hands-on exposure to enterprise security operations, risk management, and cross-functional technology assessments.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in collecting and organizing documentation required for NIST cybersecurity audits.

• Identify documentation gaps related to NIST security policies, procedures, and technical controls.

• Work with business departments to inventory software applications, data types  and user access.

• Document system ownership, data classification, and usage.

• Conduct weekly research on cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.

• Produce concise weekly security threat summary reports

• Participate in weekly learning sessions with external security vendors

• Support additional cybersecurity and compliance initiatives as assigned

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Completion of second year in a Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related Bachelor’s degree program
  • Completion of at least one networking course and one cybersecurity course
  • Basic knowledge of computers, operating systems, and networking concepts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
