About the Role
<p>Custom Surgical is a fast-growing <strong>AI-powered medical technology startup</strong> transforming the future of eye care through advanced 3D visualization and intelligent Computer Aided Diagnosis systems. <h2 id="tasks">Tasks</h2>
<p>As a <strong>Working Student in Product Management,</strong> you will work directly with the Head of Product and contribute to the full lifecycle of MicroREC, our ecosystem of hardware, software, and AI products for ophthalmology.</p>
<p>This role is ideal for students who want to understand how products are built end-to-end in a real medtech startup: from understanding user needs and defining requirements, to shipping features and tracking their impact.</p>
<p><strong>What you'll do</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Support the Head of Product in managing the product roadmap and sprint planning</li>
<li>Help define and document product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria</li>
<li>Conduct user and market research to inform product decisions</li>
<li>Test new features and releases across our platforms (Android, Windows, web) before they go live</li>
<li>Write and maintain structured test cases and bug reports</li>
<li>Reproduce and document issues with clear steps, helping the engineering team prioritize and resolve them</li>
<li>Assist in preparing product presentations, feature specs, and decision-support materials</li>
<li>Track feature releases and gather feedback from customers and internal stakeholders</li>
<li>Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, hardware, and sales teams</li>
<li>Take ownership of focused product initiatives and drive them independently</li>

<h2 id="requirements">Requirements</h2>
<p><strong>What We’re Looking For</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Currently enrolled as a <strong>Bachelor's or Master's student</strong> (e.g. in engineering, business, design, or a related field)</li>
<li>Genuine interest in product management, digital health, or medtech</li>
<li>Structured thinker with strong analytical and communication skills</li>
<li>Detail-oriented and thorough — you notice what others miss</li>
<li>Comfortable working with ambiguity and iterating quickly</li>
<li>Able to work independently and follow through on commitments</li>
<li>Strong written and spoken English</li>
<li>Available to commit 20 hours per week for at least 6 months</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Nice to have</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, Figma, Notion, or similar</li>
<li>Experience with manual testing, QA processes, or bug tracking tools</li>
<li>Background or interest in healthcare, medical devices, or clinical workflows</li>
<li>Experience in UX research, data analysis, or software development</li>
</ul>
