Fixed Income Research Associate Internship – Summer 2027
 

The Department
Fidelity’s Fixed Income Division is one of the world’s leading fixed income managers with over $1 trillion in fixed income assets managed by a staff of more than 190 investment professionals. At Fidelity, we combine fundamental research on domestic and international debt issuers with macroeconomic and quantitative analysis to make investment decisions and help our clients achieve their financial goals. The Fixed Income Division is headquartered in Merrimack, New Hampshire.

The Role

The Fixed Income Research Associate Internship is a 10-week program designed to recruit talented and hardworking undergraduate students to develop fundamental company research, financial modeling, and industry and comparative analysis skills through training and direct work with fixed income professionals. In addition to getting exposure to the different groups within Fixed Income (money market, corporate bond, structured, municipal, and macro), the internship will be composed of the following elements: 

  • Interns participate in project-based rotations designed to enable students to explore different areas of Fixed Income Research and learn about the investment process 

  • Rotations are assigned based on market developments, team capacity, and business need. Rotation possibilities include corporate credit (industrial and financial), municipal credit, macro research, quantitative research, and personal bond management 

  • Projects will include analysis of an investment opportunity and a chance to communicate a recommendation to investment teams. Interns will learn how to conduct proprietary research, build financial models, and generate investment ideas.

Education and Experience

  • Class of 2028 Bachelor’s degree candidates

  • Interest in growing knowledge of fundamental research and investment management

  • Shown initiative in studies and extracurricular activities related to financial markets

  • Intellectual curiosity and dedication to continuous improvement

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proactive; seeks additional responsibilities and learning opportunities

  • Proven success during academic career

  • High levels of integrity

Training

  • Emphasis on hands-on training from research analysts directly related to intern projects 

  • Opportunity for training in conjunction with investment interns in Equity, High Income, and Strategic Advisers

  • Mentorship from senior research analysts and associates

  • Exposure to portfolio managers and investment thought leaders

Conversion

Successful interns may receive an offer at the end of the summer internship to return as a full-time research associate post-graduation.
