Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Electrical Engineering Intern to join our multidisciplinary engineering team for the summer. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring electrical/software engineer who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast‑paced and dynamic environment. You will help shape the development of next‑generation high‑power fiber lasers and amplifiers that incorporate emerging optical technologies and their supporting electronic systems through targeted projects that can be completed within the duration of your internship.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to both hardware and software development of electronic systems containing embedded microcontrollers and FPGAs under the guidance of engineering mentors
  • Support prototyping and bring‑up of printed circuit boards, cable harnesses, and embedded hardware assemblies through hands-on laboratory tasks
  • Participate in testing and validation of new and existing electronics and software
  • Create documentation including test plans/test reports, design notes, manufacturing instructions, interface control documents, and operating instructions
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to resolve issues and experience multiple aspects of an engineering design process

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Hands‑on experience with prototyping, debugging, and testing embedded electronics using standard laboratory equipment
  • Basic knowledge of embedded software/firmware development process from source code to compilation into deployable build artifacts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PCB design, schematic capture, and layout; familiarity with Altium Designer preferred
  • Experience with Verilog or VHDL languages and synthesis; Xilinx or Intel experience preferred
  • Experience with embedded programming in C; Microchip toolchain experience preferred
  • Experience with C# (.NET) and LabView is a plus
