We are currently seeking a Systems Engineering Intern to join the Multi-Function Radio Frequency System (MFRFS) Systems Engineering team in McKinney, TX.  The MFRFS program is primarily an Army funded program specializing in the creation of compact stationary and on-the-move ground-based radars, with search and track capabilities of a variety of ground and airborne targets.  These technologies are paramount for early-warning systems, missile defense, and offensive countermeasures that help keep the warfighter safe.  In particular, this job assignment will be with the algorithms development / modes team on the MFRFS program. 
 
The Systems Engineer Intern will be a member of a highly visible team of engineers supporting systems engineering, algorithms development, and test data analysis expertise for the radar systems program.  The Systems Engineer Intern will regularly interface with the Software, Systems Integration and Test teams to ensure that proper design algorithms are implemented properly.      


This position is an onsite role.

This position can be a Junior, Senior, or Post Graduate Technical Intern based on the candidate's qualifications and standing as outlined below:

(Post-Graduate Technical Intern) - must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a graduate degree program (in degree fields listed in Qualifications You Must Have) by start of internship

What You Will Do:

  • Support planning and execution of Integration, Verification, activities in our labs.
  • Support evaluation of our development modules
  • Support troubleshooting and failure data analyses, including root cause and corrective action processes and advanced use of lab or field test equipment
  • Complete and compile detailed performance evaluations, including the use of analysis tools, such as MATLAB
  • FPGA programming and debugging
  • Prepare and present results in reports and briefings to internal or external stakeholders
  • Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Support planning and execution of Integration, Verification, modeling activities in our labs.
  • Support evaluation of our development modules
  • Support troubleshooting and failure data analyses, including root cause and corrective action processes and advanced use of lab or field test equipment
  • Complete and compile detailed performance evaluations, including the use of analysis tools, such as Python
  • Prepare and present results in reports and briefings to internal or external stakeholders

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelors degree program or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Mathematics degree program
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Academic or internship experience that included hands-on testing of electronic equipment
  • Exposure to troubleshooting technical issues with electronics in an academic or internship setting, or as part of a hobby
  • Exposure to data analysis using tools such as MATLAB and/or C++
  • Experience or coursework in FPGA programming and debugging
  • Existing Department of War SECRET security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience or coursework in System Design
  • Experience or coursework with Continuous and discrete time systems, Fourier transforms, and filter design
  • 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher
  • Ability to analyze issues and define solutions
  • Strong communication skills including effective written, verbal, and listening skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to independently pursue information and solve problems
  • Proven strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Basic Engineering skills and interest in how systems are developed and function
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment Ability to problem solve and seek out additional resources

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
